Social Work/Mental Health Intern — Article 31 Clinics/CCBHC

About: Article 31 Clinics provide outpatient mental health services including individual and group psychotherapy, case conferencing, medication management, and crisis intervention across the lifespan. Interns are assigned a caseload (including higher-risk clients), work in-person 3 days/week, see clients weekly, and co-facilitate 1 group per week as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Key Functions:
- Individual counseling with assigned caseload
- Co-facilitation of 1 group/week
- Treatment plans and safety/risk assessments
- Family counseling
- Weekly supervision and monthly didactic trainings
- Complete 2 process recordings per week
- Maintain timely regulatory and agency documentation
Requirements:
- 2nd year MHC students
- Russian or Spanish speaking a plus
- 20+ hr interns: minimum 12 sessions/week
- At least one evening required (until 8–9pm)
- Be available at least one day weekly overlapping team schedule
Organizational Leadership Intern — JCS Population Health

About: Jewish Community Services offers resources, trainings, programming, and peer-led support within 4 focus areas: JACS (Jewish Recovery), HereNow (teen-led mental health), bereavement, and crisis services. JCS has shifted to a population health model focused on upstream preventive approaches and early support.
Key Functions:
- Develop training materials, toolkits, and resource materials in grief, recovery, and teen mental health
- Collaborate with leadership to plan and implement community programs, events, and retreats
- Community outreach to share resources, trainings, and develop partnerships
- Co-lead and facilitate trainings for professionals and/or lay participants
- Co-facilitate non-clinical grief groups and advisory boards as needed
- Track daily activities for reporting purposes
Requirements:
- Preference for 1st year MSW student
- Jewish-identified student preferred
- Familiarity with Jewish traditions, culture, and holidays required
- Flexibility to work at least 1 Sunday evening/month and other evenings/weekends as needed
- Major in Organizational Leadership, Management, or related field
Social Work Intern — JCS CUNY Hillel

About: Jewish Community Services, in partnership with CUNY Hillel, supports emotional wellbeing of Jewish students and peers across CUNY campuses through the Wellness Hub. The intern works full-time onsite providing short-term counseling, group support, psychoeducation, and community engagement.
Key Functions:
- Provide short-term supportive counseling (weekly/biweekly individual sessions)
- Carry a student caseload with goal-focused interventions
- Conduct psychosocial assessments
- Maintain timely documentation, case notes, and database tracking
- Support warm handoffs and linkages to therapy, psychiatry, and community services
- Co-facilitate groups, workshops, and wellness-based programming
- Help co-run fellowships and student engagement opportunities
Requirements:
- Open to 1st year MSW students
- Strong interest in working with young adults/college students
- Comfortable with clinical work and informal engagement/outreach

About: Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) programs offer comprehensive rehabilitation and support for individuals with serious mental illness, including therapy, vocational training, and life skills development. Interns work on-site 21 hours/week with individual and group sessions, carrying a caseload of 7 clients seen weekly.
Key Functions:
- Individual counseling (caseload of 7 clients, 15-minute sessions)
- 2–3 groups/week
- Field work to schools to run groups
- Team meetings and outreach to clients
- Progress notes and documentation
Requirements:
- 2nd year MHC intern
- Must be available 3 days/week Mon–Thu (no Fridays)
- Spanish and/or ASL a plus
- In-person work; good time management skills needed
Social Work Intern — Trauma Systems Therapy (TST)

Locations:

About: Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) Preventive Programs offer therapy for children and families affected by trauma. Interns are trained in the TST model over a 3-day period and carry a caseload of 3–4 families seen weekly, working primarily in clients’ homes with potential for partial remote work.
Key Functions:
- Home visits
- Individual and family counseling for 3–4 clients
- Use TST model with clients
- Case management services as needed
- Attend training in TST model
- Crisis assessments
Requirements:
- 2nd year MHC student required
- Minimum 14 hours/week; 21 hours/week preferred
- Must be comfortable with home visits
- Comfortable engaging high-risk clients (suicidal ideation, DV, ACS involvement)
- 1 evening per week until 8pm required
